- Q:What if the adopted dog does not get along with my other pets? Can I get a refund or choose another dog? What is the time frame for any refunds?
- A: We determine this on a case by case basis, depending on the circumstances. This will need to be decided by our organization’s founder/president, Diana England. Please contact her at 702-239-7986.
- Q:Do your dogs have any known medical issues? Do you offer wellness vet checks for these animals?
- A: Since our organization was founded to save canines that would otherwise be euthanized, approximately 80 percent of our animals have medical issues. These are often something as simple as an eye infection, the need for dental care or an injured paw. Upon rescuing them from a shelter, animals in need of care are immediately taken to a veterinarian for treatment. Special vet checks are made if our foster parents deem it necessary.
- Q:Can I have a trial period with the dog?
- A: A two-to three-day trial period with the dog is allowed, provided you sign our contract and pay the adoption fee. If after the three-day period you determine things are not working out, your fee will be returned to you.
- Q:Does your rescue organization provide anything for the dogs such as collars, leashes, crates, food or toys?
- A: It is important that a prospective adopter be prepared to take on the financial responsibility of owning a pet, which includes the cost of the above- mentioned items.
- Q:Where are all of your animals housed? Do they go through formal training?
- A: The animals are currently housed in volunteers’ foster homes. If our foster parents notice behavioral problems, they will work with a professional dog trainer to resolve them before the animal is adopted.
- Q:What is your adoption process, i.e. home checks, applications, vet references, etc.
- A: All of the above are required, as well as a preliminary meet and greet. A fee is charged and a contract must be signed as well. A veterinarian reference may also be required.
- Q:Do you know why the dogs ended up in a shelter?
- A: The information supplied by shelters is limited. The good news is that our foster parents gain an understanding of a dog’s behavior/personality.
- Q:Are out-of-state adoptions available? Do you ship dogs out of state?
- A: Not normally, but exceptions may be made.
- Q:Can I get on an adoption waiting list for a specific breed or age of dog and be alerted as to when you have a possible match?
- A: Yes, we can do that for you.
- Q:What do the adoption fees go toward?
- A: All proceeds go toward providing canine foster care and medicine while seeking permanent homes for abandoned dogs. Since it was founded in March 2009, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization has saved over 2000 local dogs from being euthanized and raised more than $500,000 for the medical treatments of animals that would otherwise be killed.
