Roscoe was found as a stray in San Bernardino. He is 1 year old, neutered, up to date on all shots, dewormed and microchipped. He weighs around 55 pounds. The day he was rescued he received a stuffed pheasant. It was clear he had never had a stuffed animal before. He treasured his new friend. He was so gentle carrying it in his mouth anywhere he went. He has separation anxiety when he’s left alone, he is doing much better than when he first was rescued. With discipline and leadership he walks great on the leash, but if you give him an inch, he will take a mile. He has been trained to sit, stay/wait, come, and shake. He is crate trained and loves having his own space. He tends to resource guard his kennel around other dogs, I believe it is him being protective of his stuffed animals. When he takes a treat from you, he is gentle and patient. He has only met a cat while he was locked in his kennel. He had no reaction in the beginning, but lunged and barked when the cat hissed at him. He needs to be properly tested with cats. He has not been around small children since he has been rescued. He is very protective of his home, he will alert you if he hears something, but will settle as soon as you tell him everything is good. When he is allowed on the couch, he gets a little rambunctious, and will grab at pillows and blankets at first. Once the excitement is over, he will lay down with his stuffed animal and go to sleep. If you allow it, it will try to lay as close to you as he can get. He would be a great companion for someone who can handle his size, possibly works from home or even a long haul truck driver. He does great in the car. After a few minutes of driving, he ends up curling up in the front seat and going to sleep.
