Meet Chance!

Meet Chance! This handsome senior is looking for his second chance at forever with you! Chance was abused and suffered cruelty in his earlier life. He is almost 11 and his birthday is listed at 3/20/10. They think he is a Retriever mix. His original name was Tiger but at some point it got changed to Chance (I’m not sure when). In 2017, he was adopted by his previous owner and her partner and unfortunately they can no longer care for him at no fault of their own. The husband recently passed away and the mortuary reached out to our rescue to help find him a home. The woman recently had open heart surgery and is on oxygen and in a wheelchair so she needed to move to New Mexico with her relatives for more care and couldn’t bring Chance with her. She said that she got him as a guardian and he was part of her family. He loves women and is a little apprehensive with men, but has taken to his foster parents well and will take treats out of his hand and let him pet him. The papers say he cannot be lunged at. He has done well with his foster brother Kingsley, an 8 year old, 215lb English Mastiff and with their Mother in Law’s dog who is a 14 year old lab/husky mix. He is eager to play with them though neither of them were interested. He’s slipped out of his collar a couple times so we put a harness on him so we can walk him with less worry, but he seems fine on a leash. He’s a quiet and mellow dog and when he feels comfortable (which he already is) he sleeps a lot and just follows me from room to room. Chance is a sweet and kind soul who is already so loving once he builds some trust and would be a great friend to anyone. We do not know how he is with kids or cats.
