Pups On Parole

The Pups on Parole program is now officially under our care, with approval from the Attorney General and the state prison system. This allows us to fully serve both the dogs and inmate handlers who make this initiative so impactful.

What the Program Teaches

Running a program like Pups on Parole requires dedication, structure, and adaptability. From funding and staffing to detailed paperwork and compliance, every detail matters. Success depends on:

  • Willingness to work hard and adapt to change
  • Commitment to learning and following new rules
  • Clear, simple, and factual communication
  • Attention to detail and understanding of human behavior

These lessons strengthen the program and shape everyone involved – staff, handlers, and volunteers alike.

The Joy of New Beginnings

The true reward comes in moments of connection. When new dogs arrive at the facility, the joy from the inmate handlers is immediate and genuine. For them, each pup represents growth, purpose, and hope.

The excitement spreads throughout the prison community – staff, handlers, mentors, and volunteers all feel the powerful impact of welcoming dogs in need. This therapeutic program continues to show how transformative it is for both people and animals.

Looking Ahead

Now that the program is fully active under our care, we can support our rescue partners and provide second chances to more dogs. Every participant – from inmate handlers to volunteers – plays a role in helping pups find healing and hope.

Here we grow. Here we give back. And together, we help our community’s dogs find the future they deserve.
